The right quality seed mixture, a source of fresh water and ample cover to enjoy their visit can provide the birds that visit your backyard ideal conditions for survival.

Black oil sunflower seed is a perfect fall feed due to its high oil content, meatier seed and thinner hull, which can be easily managed by most songbirds.

Tube feeders area great way to feed sunflower seed–just hang them at least 5 feet off the ground and 3 feet from a window. The chickadees and finches will thank you! A good suet cake mix can also provide birds, like woodpeckers and nut hatches, essential fats as they burn thousands of calories keeping warm and making their journeys. We make our own suet at Birds & Beasleys and the birds love it!
