2020 seems to be the year of event cancellations here at Downtown Helena, Inc.
We’re sad to announce that the annual Parade of Lights scheduled for November 27th has been canceled.
We started planning out the “reverse parade” when events were capped at 250 participants and thought that by having people stay in their cars, we’d avoid needing to worry about the attendee cap. However, the L&C Board of Health moved the attendee cap down to 50 due to increased cases of COVID-19, a decision that DHI fully supports and understands.
The 50-person cap, though, includes float participants and we realized that a parade without people on the floats wouldn’t amount to much of a parade. We appreciate all of your interest in this event, as well as those who already signed up for a float, but in the end, we are canceling this event, as well as the poster contest, due to the attendee cap that would hinder float participants.
