It’s time to hang your hummingbird feeders! Hummingbirds begin to arrive mid-month. We carry bottled nectar, but if you want to make your own, it’s easy!
- Mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts water, heat on low and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Do not add red dye. Dyes can be harmful to birds.
- Cool mixture, then fill your feeder.
- Place it outside and wait for that familiar flash and hum to appear! Extra sugar water can be stored in a refrigerator. Good to know: never use honey or raw sugar in your feeders. Honey can grow fungus and raw sugar contains iron which can harm hummingbirds
