A native Montanan, Kirk Johnson graduated from Montana State University with a degree in metalsmithing and jewelry-making. He began as a jewelry designer, but spent most of his career managing or owning businesses in Hawaii and Helena. He owned Point S Tire in Helena for over 30 years. When he retired, he turned his attention to making one-of-a-kind birdhouses from reclaimed wood and other treasures he collects on his frequent hikes. Each house tells a story about the land and the trees that grew on the prairies and mountains of Montana.
