What You Can Do About Avian Flu: A highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been confirmed in more than 25 states in the U.S. Please take extra care to keep your bird feeders and bird baths clean. Be sure to use a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) to disinfect every 2 weeks.
If you have game birds such as chickens or other poultry, do your best to prevent contact between the wild birds and your domestic fowl. Be especially considerate around feeding and watering areas.
Read the CDC’s summary and updates of the situation here. They keep a record of the amount and types of bird species and humans with the virus. There is also more protective advice!
Let’s work together to create a safer world for our backyard birds!
